Emilio Dabul
Emilio Dabul’s cultural background and life experience make him uniquely suited to be a commentator on the current divide between the Mideast and the West. He is of Syrian heritage on his father’s side, English and Irish on his mother’s. His religious upbringing included the basic tenets of Islam as well as Christianity. This was the beginning of his journey into the varieties of religious and political experience, which continues up to the present day. His wife, who is Jewish, has family in Israel and a cousin who is a female rabbi in Jerusalem. Across the border in Damascus, Dabul has an uncle who was an assistant to the first President Assad.
Dabul’s opinion pieces are unequivocal in their condemnation of terrorism. “One Arab’s Apology”, which was published in the New York Post and “An Arab-American Defends 24”, which appeared in the Wall Street Journal, confront the terrorist mindset as well as their apologists.
He is also the author of Deadline, a novel about modern terrorism and the clash and blend of world cultures.
Dabul is Vice President of Drive Public Relations, which specializes in advanced security technology and products.
He received his B.A. from the State University of New York at Albany, with a major in English and minors in Spanish and Psychology.
