Lori Lowenthal Marcus is a co-founder of
Z STREET, the new Zionist organization advocating from strength for Israel. She has been a full-time Israel advocate for many years: a grass roots activist, a Middle East news radio show co-host, and a journalist whose work has been published in local, national and international media outlets including The Jerusalem Post, The Weekly Standard, Arutz Sheva, The American Thinker, FrontPage, Israpundit, Atlas Shrugs, and the Philadelphia Jewish Exponent. Marcus has served on the Philadelphia Federation’s Israel Advocacy Task Force, the Israel Campus Coalition, and the Board of the Greater Philadelphia Hillel. She was a founding board member of MediaCentral, a unique Jerusalem-based organization that works with foreign journalists in Israel to improve the accuracy of their Middle East reporting, and was also the past president of the Greater Philadelphia District of the Zionist Organization of America.
For four years Marcus co-hosted a weekly news radio show, “The ZOA Middle East Report,” in which capacity Marcus interviewed many of today’s most important Middle East experts, journalists and activists, including Amb. Moshe Arens, Amb. John Bolton, Amb. Dore Gold, Daniel Pipes, Steve Emerson, Efraim Karsh, Lt. Gen Moshe Ya’alon, Eilat Mazar, Michael Ledeen, Caroline Glick, and many members of the Israeli and US governments. In addition to her writing and on-air interviews and commentary, Marcus frequently speaks to groups about the current situation in the Middle East.
Marcus earned a J.D. from Harvard University, a Masters in Law and Social Policy and a Masters in Policy and Program Development from Bryn Mawr College, and a B.A. in American Studies, magna cum laude, from Brandeis University. Prior to her Israel activism Marcus was a litigator in a major Philadelphia law firm with a First Amendment law practice. She has also taught at area law schools and graduate schools.
